Day:
PHILADELPHIA
If you’ve come to the City of
Brotherly Love on an extended vacation, you should have plenty of
time to see and do everything you want to.
Our suggestion is to following the above plans for your first
two days, but hold off on the shopping until day five.
O
n your third day, plan a trip to the
glamorous Rittenhouse Square district, located on Walnut Street
between 18th and 19th Streets.
This ultra-upscale section of town contains a variety of
Philly landmarks, including the Curtis Institute of Music, Rosenbach
Museum and Library, the Civil War Library and Museum, and some of
the most soothing scenery anywhere in the country.
Rittenhouse
Square is home to politicians and upscale citizens, and it’s
practically gleaming with tasteful charm.
While in the area, you might also want to take the
opportunity to stroll down Locust Street to the Academy of Music,
where the Philadelphia Orchestra and other productions are based.
This would be the ideal day for an extravagant dinner, as the
ritzy atmosphere of Rittenhouse Square will have you yearning to
pamper yourself for the evening.
This trip is highly recommended for couples.
On the fourth day, take some time to
re-explore some of the destinations you may have overlooked
previously. If you felt at all rushed, this would be the time to revisit
some of the museums at the end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway; one
day isn’t enough time in some cases.
Before heading out to admire the past, you might want to stop
at the Independence Seaport Museum on the Delaware River.
While there, walk towards the heart of town, passing Penn’s
Landing and heading towards City Hall.
This amazing structure is definitely worth an hour of your
time, especially during the holiday season, when a giant Christmas
tree is housed in its open-air center.
Sports fans might consider making this a day to take in a
game. Depending on the
season, you could trek to the First Union Center to watch the Flyers
or 76ers do battle, or take in a Phillies or Eagles game at Veterans
Stadium. Tickets
aren’t usually very hard to come by in the City of Brotherly Love,
but the experience is second to none.
For your final day in Philadelphia, follow our shopping
suggestions from the Three Day Plan.
